In response to the rising popularity of Stalin, particularly highlighted by the January 2024 discovery of an icon glorifying him in the Trinity Cathedral, the Sovlab team has initiated a project aimed at countering this trend. Collaborating with renowned writer Lasha Bugadze and Radio Liberty, Sovlab will produce a series of informative videos for social media. These videos will explore Stalin's profound impact on Georgia in the 20th century, drawing from the joint publication by Sovlab and Lasha Bugadze titled "Georgia against Joseph Stalin." The project aims to illuminate the detrimental effects of Stalin's regime on Georgia, focusing on how his leadership impeded the nation's modernization and democratization for over seven decades. By sharing these stories, we aspire to ignite a broader discussion about Stalin's true legacy and foster a deeper understanding of Georgia's historical struggle for progress.
